Compassion

When we take the time to understand and connect with others, we open ourselves up to a world of happiness. By putting ourselves in someone else's shoes, we can gain a better understanding of their feelings and struggles. And by recognizing children's emotions and offering our support, we can show them that we care and want to help. Together we can change lives.

Empathy Unlocks Compassion

Compassion for children leads to good mental health. When we show empathy and kindness towards children, we create a safe and nurturing environment that promotes their emotional well-being.

DOES COMPASSION AFFECT CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH?

Compassion can indeed have a positive impact on children’s mental health. Research has shown that compassionate behaviors are associated with increased happiness, positive affect, and reduced negative affect and anxiety 1.

Additionally, compassionate behavior such as volunteer work has been linked to positive outcomes like increased academic aspirations and self-esteem among adolescents 2.

Moreover, showing compassion through caring and expressing feelings of kindness can positively affect mood, which can help lift feelings of depression 3.

It’s important to note that the mental health of children is crucial, as it affects physical health, learning, socialization, self-esteem, and other aspects of child development that can have lifelong repercussions 4.

In times of crisis, such as the pandemic, children’s mental health needs have been highlighted, with increased stressors leading to a rise in mental health crises among children 5. Therefore, fostering an environment of compassion and support is essential for the good mental health and well-being of children.

By nurturing and supporting children with compassion, we create a ripple effect of positivity that benefits both them and ourselves. It's important to remember that the way we treat children can have a lasting impact on their lives and the world around us. Let's strive to be a positive force in their lives and help them grow into happy and healthy adults.

Invest in the Power of Compassion

Everyone is invited to become Bluebird Awards Registered Volunteer for Bluebird Awards. A Registered Volunteer(RV) is unpaid and has no committed duties until called upon and if available. HOWEVER, all will be able to avail themselves of future benefits. This may include, special events, career planning, financial planning, group counseling, support groups and more. Most of these programs are down the road.

Once registered, an RV is eligible to participate in our Bluebird Awards Thank You Points Reward Program. This program enables RVs to earn cash, goods or services as a thank you for helping Bluebird Awards extend its reach. It is also an incentive that helps their over-all well-being. It is comforting to know when one is appreciated.

Bluebird Award services are expected to evolve over time as the Medical Workers Scholarship Fund, DBA Bluebird Awards matures into an established public charity. In a sense, Bluebird Awards wants every applicant to be a winner, be it cash, tuition, books, career and personal financial guidance or outside activities.

Non-Award winners will remain 'in the loop' in the event Bluebird Awards receives unexpected gifts. It follows RV members will have an 'inside track' for future benefits and post high school scholarships.

Not everyone has a trade or professional career in mind at the outset. An entrepreneurial few may choose to start and operate their own business. For that we are uniquely qualified. We have many years of working from home in home-based businesses. We also have established motivational speakers for an array of subjects.

The purpose an on-going benefits program is our way of trying to add value beyond a Bluebird Award or Bluebird Award winners.

Some benefits may have minimal fees to assure valuable volunteer time is not "wasted.'  If someone pays for a service or benefit, the assumption is they see value. We believe members will appreciate the opportunity to contribute to their own success. We will engage professional consultants and volunteers as our programs evolve. If our donated funds are to be well invested, we will do our part to help all applicants and RVs as they strive for success.
